The Ravenswood Documentary Photo-Project was proposed by local artist Emily Rapport in 2006 for Chicago Artists' Month - the theme was "Artists at Work". The project showed the inderdependent relationship of artists and industry through their shared shared space and through the act of work. In cooperation with the Jane Addams Resource Corporation, Andrew and Emily researched and developed the 60 piece photo-essay displayed at the woodshop local business JK Chicago in October 2006 for the annual, city-wide cultural event - Chicago Artists' Month.

Ravenswood Corridor has been a home to local manufacturers since the early 1900's. As industry migrates to suburban complexes where production costs (and taxes) are lower, the area also tends to decline. In this case, strong community organizations like the The Jane Addams Resource Corporation (JARC) worked to help local businesses stay in Ravenswood.

Something else has happened in Ravenswood that made it unique; some real estate owners were able to create affordable work space for artists over a period of years. As we walked up and down the corridor and checked in with the JARC database, we became aware that hundreds of artists and artisan industries had located within the Ravenswood area.
